Until now. if you wanted to replace the factory radio in your 2000-03 Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. you were out of luck. The Ford-built radio is a control panel that houses climate controls along with the radio tuning and cassette mechanisms. The unusual shape and inclusion of temperature controls prohibited any aftermarket receivers from working in this location.
Now. if your Taurus or Sable has mechanical climate controls. you can upgrade to an in-dash CD player or a better cassette deck. thanks to this innovative FM-K578 integration adapter from American International. It fits the oval opening in the Taurus or Sable perfectly. Plus. it includes a series of plugs to operate the climate controls. You transfer the switches and knobs from the factory control panel into the new panel.
Important Note: When installing an aftermarket radio. you will need to run the provided antenna extension cable and speaker extension harness from the Ford rear tuner/amp unit to your new receiver.
